And it's a bloody bargain

When it was announced earlier this year that Claire's Accessories had filed for bankruptcy and the rumour of widespread closures, we wept at the thought of losing the place where we had bought our first necklaces with the pocket money we had so diligently saved up. But then another thought crossed our mind: where would people go to get their ears pierced now?

Everyone gets their ears pierced at Claire's; it's like an unwritten rule. Where would little girls go now when their mums finally let them take the plunge? Scary tattoo parlours? Unlikely. Thank goodness then for Superdrug, the high street stalwart that has just launched its own in-store piercing. Superdrug’s Commercial Director, Simon Comins, said of the launch “We love being able to offer our customers in-store beauty services at affordable prices and the new ear and nose piercing service is an exciting addition to our portfolio.”

Superdrug already has brow and lash treatments at over 300 stores in the UK and Republic of Ireland and 68 Orly Nail Bars, as well as waxing and spray tanning at selected stores. These beauty services offer customers a more affordable option to traditional salons.

Piercing is already in 50 stores nationwide, with the plan is to open up more throughout 2018. Prices start from £10 for a single piercing, up to £34 for a double piercing – dependent on jewellery – and £15 for a nose piercing.

There's no need to book an appointment, just show up and wait your turn. I am the proud owner of two more holes and I'd completely forgotten how easy and pain-free it actually is.
